Stress Hormone Health

We all know what if feels like to feel stressed. And we all suffer from stress daily: sitting in traffic, working in stressful situations, deadlines, paying bills, difficult relationships, challenging children and the list goes on. But what people don’t realise is how the body produces a stress response to things such as: bad diet, insulin resistance, irregular blood sugar balance, food intolerances, illness of every kind. When the body is constantly sending out stress hormones to help your body cope, this system eventually tires and it takes down all the other hormonal systems; such as thyroid hormones and sex hormones.

What I’m trying to say is, it is difficult to have happy hormones, when your body is in a constant state of stress, the knowing kind and the unknowing kind. All underlying causes of stress need to be addressed for you to return to YOU again.

If you suffer from any of the following conditions your stress hormones are exhausted:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Panic attacks
  • Depression
  • Insomnia

If you suffer from any of the following symptoms you are probably adrenally fatigued:

  • Worsening of PMS and low libido
  • Slow starter in the mornings – wake up tired and exhausted
  • Difficulty in falling asleep
  • Call yourself a ‘night person’
  • Crave sugar and salty foods (sometime uncontrollable)
  • Feel drowsy often
  • Tendency to need sunglasses
  • Feel faint or dizzy especially from sitting to standing
  • Abnormal weight gain around the abdomen
  • Feeling tired and wired most of the time
  • Fatigued and lack stamina
  • Inability to stay focused, racing thoughts, lack concentration
  • Lack ability to cope with really stressful situations
  • Lowered immune response – recurrent infections or long recovery time when sick
